The Not-So-Spooky Friend

Lily sat under the swaying palm tree in her backyard, watching the golden sunset paint the sky. She was bored, until she spotted something peculiar shuffling through the garden gate.

It was green. It was bumpy. And it looked like a zombie!

Lily's heart thumped. She had seen zombies in movies, and they were always scary. But this one wore a bright yellow polka-dot bowtie and carried a little backpack.

"Hello?" Lily called out bravely.

The zombie stopped. Its purple eyes twinkled like stars. "Hello! I'm Zimby. I'm not actually scary—I'm a garden zombie! I help plants grow."

Lily giggled. "A garden zombie?"

"Yes!" Zimby nodded enthusiastically. "Watch this!" He knelt by some wilted flowers, touched his palm to the soil, and suddenly the flowers perked up, blooming bigger and brighter than ever before.

"That's amazing!" Lily clapped. "Will you be my friend?"

Zimby's face lit up. "I've never had a friend before! Everyone runs away when they see me."

"They're missing out," Lily said firmly.

She showed Zimby her favorite hiding spot behind the palm tree, and they played tag until the moon rose. Before Zimby left, he handed Lily a small, glowing seed.

"Plant this tomorrow," he said. "Something magical will happen."

That night, Lily couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about her new friend. She grabbed her iPhone to take pictures of the glowing seed, but the screen showed something strange—a tiny video of Zimby waving!

"See you tomorrow, friend!" the video zomby cheered.

Lily smiled. She had learned something important: sometimes the scariest-looking things turn out to be the most wonderful. And true friends are worth more than all the gold in the world.

The next morning, she planted the seed. By afternoon, a magnificent tree had grown, covered in flowers that looked just like little smiling zombies.

Lily laughed, knowing this was the beginning of many magical adventures with her not-so-spooky friend.
