The Not-So-Scary Zombie

Lily and Ben ran toward the sparkling blue ocean, their bare feet splashing through warm waves. The sun danced across the water, making it look like millions of tiny diamonds were floating on the surface.

"Let's go swimming near the old palm tree," Lily suggested, pointing to a bent tree that leaned over the water like it was trying to peek at the fish below.

Ben nodded, his curly hair bouncing with each step. They dove into the salty water, paddling deeper and deeper until their toes could barely touch the sandy bottom.

Suddenly, something swam past them. It had tangled green hair flowing like seaweed, and it moved slowly through the water. Lily gasped and grabbed Ben's arm.

"It's a zombie!" she whispered, her eyes wide.

The creature turned toward them. Its skin shimmered with rainbow colors in the sunlight, and instead of being scary, it looked... curious? The zombie made gentle clicking sounds, like happy dolphins, and extended its webbed hand.

"I think it wants to be friends," Ben said bravely.

The children stayed still as the zombie swam closer. They noticed its hair was made of soft seaweed, its eyes were kind and bright as stars, and it had the biggest, friendliest smile they had ever seen. The zombie wasn't scary at all — it was magical!

The creature began spinning in circles, creating beautiful bubbles that popped with tiny chiming sounds. Lily and Ben laughed and joined in the dance, swimming and twirling until the sun began to set behind the palm tree.

"We have to go home," Ben said sadly.

The zombie pressed something into Lily's hand — a perfect shell that shimmered with all the colors of the rainbow. With one last smile, their new friend disappeared beneath the waves.

"Sometimes the scariest things turn out to be the most wonderful," Lily said, clutching her magical shell.

Ben grinned, his wet hair dripping. "And sometimes, the best adventures come from being brave enough to stay and see what happens."

Hand in hand, they walked back along the beach, already planning their next visit to see their not-so-scary zombie friend.
