The Not-So-Scary Pyramid

Lily loved building pyramids. Not the ancient stone kind in Egypt, but pillow pyramids in her living room. Every Saturday, she'd stack every cushion from the couch into a perfect triangle shape and climb inside with her favorite book.

One rainy afternoon, Lily was reading about ancient Egypt when her golden retriever, Buster, started barking at something outside. Not his usual "squirrel alert" bark, but a deep, worried sound.

"What is it, Buster?" Lily asked, setting down her book.

Buster nudged her hand with his wet nose and pulled her toward the window. There, standing in their backyard, was the strangest thing Lily had ever seen.

It looked like a zombie, but not the scary kind from movies. This zombie had bright blue skin, sparkly green hair, and was wearing a polka-dotted cape. It was stumbling around, bumping into trees and looking confused.

"That's not scary," Lily whispered. "That's just... lost."

Buster whined and scratched at the back door. Lily opened it slowly.

The blue zombie's eyes lit up when it saw them. It pointed at the pillow pyramid through the window and made a series of cheerful beeping sounds.

"You like pyramids too?" Lily asked, surprised.

The zombie nodded enthusiastically and pulled a small golden pyramid from its pocket. It glowed with magical light.

Suddenly, Lily understood. This wasn't a zombie at all—it was a Space Friend from the planet Zombulia! In Zombulian language, "zombie" meant "traveler who gets lost easily."

Lily invited her new friend inside. Buster immediately rolled over for belly rubs, and the Zombulia traveler giggled (which sounded like bubbles popping). Together, the three of them built the biggest pillow pyramid ever, complete with the glowing golden pyramid on top.

"Sometimes," Lily realized, "the things that seem scary at first are just friends we haven't met yet."

Before leaving, the Zombulia traveler gave Lily a small blue stone that would always glow when she needed a friend. And every night, Lily, Buster, and their new long-distance friend would look at the same stars, connected by magic and friendship across the universe.
