The Night the Storm Played Ball

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon, he practiced in his backyard, swinging his favorite bat until the sun dipped behind the hills. But today, heavy clouds gathered overhead, and thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy.

"Darn," Leo sighed, packing his gear. "No baseball today."

Suddenly, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky — but it didn't fade away. Instead, it zigzagged down to Leo's backyard, swirling and glowing until it formed the shape of a tiny bear made of pure golden light.

"Hello!" the lightning bear squeaked, its voice like crackling sparklers. "I'm Buzzy! Want to play?"

Leo's eyes widened. "A talking lightning bear? This is the BEST DAY EVER!"

Buzzy giggled and pointed a glowing paw at the swimming pool. "Bet you can't catch me!"

The bear zipped toward the water, and Leo started running, laughing as his sneakers splashed through puddles. Buzzy reached the pool and — WHOOSH — dived right in! But instead of putting out the lightning, the water began to shimmer and sparkle.

"Jump in!" Buzzy called, floating on the surface like a glowing rubber ducky.

Leo hesitated. Was it safe? But Buzzy's friendly smile made him brave. He leaped — and discovered the pool had transformed into a magical portal.

underwater, Leo could breathe! Colorful fish made of light swam around him, and the water felt like a warm hug. Buzzy appeared beside him, holding a glowing baseball.

"In my world," Buzzy explained, "thunderstorms are just the clouds playing baseball! The lightning is the ball, and the thunder is everyone cheering!"

They played the most magical game of catch ever invented. Each time Leo caught the lightning baseball, it tickled his hands and filled him with courage.

"You're brave, Leo," Buzzy said as the sky began to clear. "Most kids are scared of storms. But you found the magic inside."

Leo climbed out of the pool as Buzzy faded back into the clouds. "Will I see you again?"

"Every storm!" Buzzy's voice echoed through the thunder. "Remember — the scariest things sometimes hide the most wonderful surprises!"

That night, Leo fell asleep smiling. The world was full of magic, and all you needed was the courage to find it.
