The Night the Pyramid Glowed
Lily and Tom loved playing padel in their backyard every afternoon. The ball went *bop, bop, bop* against their rackets while the sun painted the sky pink and orange. But today was different—today, the ancient pyramid at the edge of town started glowing.
"Did you see that?" Tom whispered, dropping his padel racket.
The golden pyramid shimmered like fireflies dancing in summer. Without thinking, Lily grabbed Tom's hand. "Let's go!"
As they approached, the sky turned purple. *CRACK!* Lightning zigzagged across the clouds, but it wasn't scary lightning—it was rainbow-colored!
Suddenly, a zombie emerged from behind the pyramid. But this zombie wasn't like the ones in scary stories. He wore a colorful shirt and had flowers in his hair. "Hello!" he waved. "I'm Zed, and I've been waiting 100 years for friends brave enough to visit."
Lily and Tom looked at each other and smiled. Zed wasn't scary at all—he was lonely.
Then a magnificent bull appeared, his coat gleaming like polished copper. "I am Blaze," the bull said proudly. "The pyramid opens only when three different creatures become friends."
"You're stuck?" Tom asked.
Zed nodded sadly. "The magic of friendship can free me. Will you help?"
Lily thought about how she'd felt when she moved to town and had no friends. "Everyone deserves friends," she said firmly, taking Zed's hand. Tom took her other hand, and Blaze lowered his head so Zed could pet his nose.
*WHOOSH!* The pyramid burst with golden light. Zed began to change—his gray skin turned rosy, his eyes sparkled. The curse was broken!
"Thank you," Zed beamed. "You taught me that true friendship sees past appearances."
As the three new friends walked home under starlight, Lily realized something important: sometimes the scariest things just need a little kindness to become beautiful.
