The Night Lightning Ran
Lila loved the old swimming pool behind her house. It had been empty for years, but she imagined it filled with magical water that sparkled like stars. Every afternoon, she'd peer over the cracked edge, wondering what secrets lay below.
One stormy evening, as Lila was running home through the rain, something extraordinary happened. A bolt of lightning flashed across the dark sky and zipped straight into the empty pool!
Lila hid behind a bush and watched. To her amazement, the lightning didn't disappear. Instead, it darted around the pool like a playful fish made of pure light.
"Hello there!" Lila called out, her heart pounding with excitement.
The lightning froze, then slowly floated toward her. It wasn't scary at all — it was curious and friendly, glowing softly like a friendly firefly.
"I'm Spark!" the lightning seemed to say without speaking, twinkling happily. "Will you play with me?"
Lila laughed and began running around the pool with Spark trailing behind her like a glowing ribbon. They played tag until Lila was breathless with joy. But then Spark's glow began to dim.
"I need to go home to the sky," Spark communicated sadly. "But I'll never forget our fun!"
Lila had an idea. "Visit me whenever you want! The pool will always be our special place."
Spark brightened immediately and zipped upward, joining the storm clouds just as another bolt flashed. Lila waved goodbye, feeling warm and happy inside.
From that day on, whenever storms came, Lila would run to the pool. Sometimes Spark would visit, and they'd play together in the rain. Lila learned that the most wonderful friendships can appear in the most unexpected places — even in an old empty pool on a stormy night.
