The Night Goldie Glowed
Leo pressed his nose against the cool glass of the fish bowl. Inside, Goldie the goldfish swam in slow, sleepy circles. The room was dark except for the soft blue light of Leo's iPhone, which he used as a nightlight.
Outside, thunder rumbled like a giant tummy growling. A storm was coming.
"Don't be scared, Goldie," Leo whispered. The goldfish floated to the surface, blowing tiny bubbles.
Suddenly—FLASH! A bolt of lightning crackled across the sky, turning the night bright as day. The whole room shook. Leo's iPhone flickered and went dark.
But something magical was happening in the fish bowl. Goldie began to glow—first soft yellow, then sparkling gold, then brilliant blue! The little fish was shimmering like a tiny star.
"Goldie?" Leo gasped.
The goldfish swam faster and faster, creating a whirlpool of sparkling light. Then—POP! Goldie leaped right out of the water!
But Goldie didn't flop on the floor like a regular fish. She floated in the air, surrounded by a magical glowing bubble. Her scales sparkled with all the colors of the rainbow.
The lightning flashed again, and Goldie's bubble glowed even brighter. Images swirled around her—a castle under the sea, a magical forest, a mountain made of pearls. Goldie was showing Leo her secret dreams!
Leo reached for his iPhone, wanting to capture this amazing moment. But then he stopped. Some magic was too special for pictures. This was just for him.
Goldie did a happy flip in the air and gently lowered herself back into the bowl. The glowing bubble disappeared. The room grew quiet.
The goldfish swam to the glass and looked at Leo with her big, round eyes. Leo smiled and tapped the glass gently. "Your secret is safe with me, Goldie."
That night, Leo dreamed of underwater castles and glowing fish that could fly. And he knew that magic was real—you just had to know where to look for it. Sometimes, it was swimming right in front of you, in a tiny bowl beside your bed.
