The Mummy's Baseball Game

Emma and Leo loved playing baseball in the park behind the old museum.

Every Saturday afternoon, they'd grab their gloves and race to their favorite spot—an ancient stone pyramid that the museum had built years ago. It made the perfect backstop for their games.

One cloudy afternoon, Emma wound up for her best pitch. The ball soared toward the pyramid, but instead of bouncing off the stones, it disappeared right through a secret door!

"Did you see that?" Leo shouted, his eyes wide.

Before Emma could answer, a figure stumbled out from behind the pyramid. It walked stiffly, arms out straight, wrapped in dusty bandages.

"A zombie!" Leo squeaked, hiding behind his glove.

But the zombie-like figure stopped and pointed a bandaged finger at something on the ground. It was Emma's baseball.

The creature picked up the ball and tossed it back with surprising grace. Then it made throwing motions, mimicking a perfect pitch.

"I think... he wants to play," Emma whispered.

She tossed the ball gently. The zombie-mummy caught it with one bandaged hand and hurled it back—fast and straight!

"Whoa!" Leo breathed. "Can you teach me that pitch?"

For an hour, the three played baseball together. The mummy showed them ancient pitching techniques perfected thousands of years ago. Emma and Leo taught him how to bat and run bases.

Suddenly, CRACK! A bolt of lightning struck the pyramid's tip. The whole structure glowed with magical golden light.

The mummy looked at the pyramid, then at his new friends. He pointed to the sky as more lightning flashed.

"Time to go home?" Emma asked.

The mummy nodded and handed Emma his bandaged wrist. There was a small golden bracelet etched with baseball players—ancient Egyptians playing their version of the game!

"A gift," Leo gasped. "For playing with him."

As the first raindrops fell, their new friend shuffled back through the pyramid's secret door, turning to wave one last time.

Emma and Leo ran home through the storm, hearts full of wonder. They learned that day that friends can be found in the most unexpected places—and that sometimes, the scariest-looking creatures just want someone to play ball.
