The Moonlit Bull's Gift

Maya was lonely. She had just moved to a new town and hadn't made any friend yet at school. Every afternoon, she'd sit in her backyard, tossing her beloved cat Whiskers toy mouse while wishing for someone special to talk to.

One evening, as the sun painted the sky in shades of tangerine and lavender, Maya discovered something strange in the tall grass behind the old barn. It was an iphone - cracked and covered in dirt - but somehow, it still worked. When she pressed the home button, the screen glowed with a soft blue light, and tiny golden sparkles drifted from it like fireflies.

"What are you doing out here, little one?" a deep voice rumbled.

Maya gasped. Standing before her was the most magnificent bull she had ever seen. His coat was midnight black with swirl of silver that looked like stars, and his eyes shone like harvest moons. But he wasn't scary. He radiated warmth, like sunshine breaking through clouds.

"I'm Barnaby," the bull said gently. "And I've been waiting for someone pure of heart to find that magical device. It belonged to the Moon Guardians long ago."

Whiskers, who usually hid from strangers, trotted right up to Barnaby and began purring loudly, rubbing against his massive legs. The bull's silver markings pulsed with light.

"The iphone chooses its keeper," Barnaby explained. "And the cat knows true magic when he feels it. Would you like to see what it can really do?"

Maya nodded, her heart fluttering like a trapped butterfly. Barnaby lowered his giant head, and his moonlit horn touched the iphone's screen. Suddenly, the backyard transformed into a meadow of crystal flowers that sang when the wind blew. The bull's silver markings became actual stars, raining gentle glitter over them.

"Every full moon," Barnaby whispered, "you can return here. And next time, bring a friend. Magic is always better when shared."

Maya realized then that friendship comes in many forms - sometimes with fur, sometimes with horns, and sometimes when you least expect it. As she held Whiskers and watched Barnaby fade into the moonlight, she smiled. Tomorrow at school, she would be brave. She would make her first human friend.

And she knew exactly what to say: "Want to see something magical?"
