The Moonlight Pool

Lily loved the old pool behind her house. It had been empty for years, or so everyone thought. But on summer nights, when the moon shone just right, Lily would peek through the fence and see something magical shimmering in the depths.

One particularly hot evening, Lily knelt by the pool's edge. Her curly hair stuck to her forehead with sweat. She noticed something strange — tiny ripples moving across the surface, even though there hadn't been any rain.

"Hello?" she whispered.

A bubble popped. Then another. Suddenly, a small creature with silver scales and bright blue eyes emerged from the water. It had wild, seaweed-like hair flowing in every direction.

"I'm Finn!" the creature squeaked. "And I've been waiting for someone like you!"

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

"Of course!" Finn splashed happily. "This isn't just any pool. It's a gateway to the Swimming Kingdom, and only children with pure hearts can enter. Are you ready for an adventure?"

Lily nodded without hesitation.

Finn swam in a circle, creating a whirlpool of sparkling blue light. "Jump in, friend! The water knows the way!"

Taking a deep breath, Lily leaped into the pool. But instead of splashing into shallow water, she kept falling — down, down, down through a tunnel of glowing bubbles and rainbow-colored fish.

She landed softly in an underwater kingdom where mermaids played tag with dolphins and jellyfish lit up like floating lanterns. Finn, now life-sized, took her hand.

"Welcome to my home!"

They spent what felt like hours exploring crystal palaces and racing with sea turtles. But as the moon began to fade, Finn grew serious.

"Lily, every true friend must remember something important: the best adventures are even better when shared."

He pressed a small, smooth stone into her palm. "This will let you return whenever you wish — but promise you'll bring others who need magic in their lives."

Lily swam back through the bubble tunnel and emerged in her own pool, dry as a bone. The stone in her hand glowed softly in the moonlight.

The next day, she noticed a new girl sitting alone at school. Lily smiled, touching the stone in her pocket. She had found something wonderful — and now it was time to share it.

Because real magic, Lily learned, isn't just about discovering secrets. It's about being the kind of friend who helps others find their own wonder.
