The Moonlight Paddle Match

padelzombiepool

Lily discovered the old wooden padel hidden in her grandmother's attic. It glowed softly when she touched it, and strange symbols appeared along its handle.

"What does this do?" she wondered.

That night, she followed the sound of splashing to the secret pool behind the garden. Moonlight danced on the water, and sitting on the edge was a green figure.

Lily gasped. "A zombie!"

The creature looked up sadly. "I'm Zeb, and I'm not scary. I just want to play."

Zeb's skin was green, and he moved slowly, but his eyes twinkled like stars. He held a matching padel.

"Moonball," Zeb explained. "The pool is our court. The moon makes the magical ball."

A glowing orb rose from the water. Lily and Zeb took turns hitting it across the pool. Splash! Sparkle! The ball left trails of light wherever it went.

"Why do you live alone?" Lily asked between hits.

"Everyone runs away," Zeb said quietly. "They think I'm spooky."

Lily smiled. "You're not spooky. You're magical. And you're my friend."

They played until dawn. As the sun rose, Zeb faded into mist.

"Will I see you again?" Lily called.

"Every moonlit night," Zeb's voice whispered. "Bring your padel."

Lily ran home, her heart full of wonder. She had learned that sometimes the scariest-looking creatures make the best friends, and that magic exists in the most unexpected places.

From then on, whenever the moon was full, Lily and Zeb played moonball over the sparkling pool, their friendship glowing brighter than any magical ball.
