The Moonlight Bull's Secret
Lila loved running through the meadow at dusk, when fireflies blinked like tiny fallen stars. Her bare feet pattered against the soft grass, and her laughter danced on the breeze.
One evening, she spotted something peculiar. A boy stumbled toward her, arms outstretched, groaning dramatically. "I'm a zombie!" he announced, grinning. "Brains!" Lila giggled—this was no monster, just a new friend named Toby who loved make-believe as much as she did.
Together they played until darkness fell. That's when they heard it—a deep, rumbling snort from the forest edge. A magnificent bull emerged, his coat shimmering with moonlight. But this wasn't an ordinary bull. His eyes held ancient wisdom, and his horns were twisted like branches of an old oak tree.
"Children," the bull spoke, his voice like distant thunder wrapped in velvet. "I've been searching for helpers."
The bull led them to a hidden stream where the water glowed with an otherworldly blue light. "This is the Starwater," he explained. "It flows from dreams themselves. But it's drying up because children have stopped believing in magic."
Lila and Toby exchanged wide-eyed glances. "What can we do?"
"Believe," said the bull. "Share wonder. Keep imagination alive."
From that night on, Lila and Toby became guardians of the Starwater. They told other children about the moonlight bull and showed them the glowing stream. Soon, children from all over came to play, dream, and believe.
The water flowed brighter than ever, and the bull would sometimes appear, watching with gentle eyes as his new friends ran laughing through the meadow—children who knew that magic is real, as long as you have a friend to share it with.
