The Moon Pool's Secret

Lily's cat, Mittens, sat by the garden fence, watching something magical. A small dog with shaggy golden fur trotted up the path — it was Barnaby, her new friend from next door.

"Mittens sees something," Barnaby said, his tail wagging. "Look!"

In the middle of the garden glowed a shimmering pool of moonlight that hadn't been there before. The water sparkled like liquid stars.

"It's a moon pool," whispered a deep voice.

From behind the old oak tree stepped a great brown bear, but not a scary one. His fur looked soft as moss, and his eyes twinkled like the pool itself.

"I'm Bruno," the bear rumbled gently. "Every hundred years, the Moon Pool appears. It grants one wish to those who are truly friends."

Mittens the cat rubbed against Bruno's massive leg, purring loudly. Barnaby's doggie eyes went wide with wonder.

"What would you wish for?" Bruno asked them.

Lily, who had been watching from her window, ran outside. "I wish..." She looked at Mittens, Barnaby, and Bruno. "I wish that every night, we could all swim together in the moonlight!"

The pool glowed brighter. Suddenly, tiny silver fish made of pure light swam to the surface. They leaped into the air, turning into little moons that floated around them.

"Your wish is granted," Bruno smiled. "But remember — the magic of friendship is stronger than any spell."

And so, every full moon, the four friends — Lily, Mittens, Barnaby, and Bruno the gentle bear — would splash and play in the magical Moon Pool, under a sky full of their very own wishing stars.

For in the end, the best magic isn't in pools or wishes. The best magic is having friends who love you, whether you have two legs, four legs, or even furry brown paws the size of dinner plates.
