The Moon Bear's Secret Pool

Lily discovered the secret pool behind the old oak tree on the hottest day of summer. The water sparkled like someone had sprinkled diamonds across its surface.

She was about to jump in when she heard a splash. Lily ducked behind the tree to spy on whoever was there.

A large brown bear was swimming in the pool! But this wasn't scary at all — the bear was doing graceful laps, turning circles and splashing joyfully. The bear looked like she was dancing.

Lily stepped out from her hiding spot. The bear spotted her and waved a paw.

"I'm Luna," the bear said in a voice that sounded like gentle ripples.

"I didn't know bears liked swimming!"

"Oh, I'm not an ordinary bear," Luna said mysteriously. "I'm a moon bear. I collect starlight that falls from the sky each night. This pool is special — it catches all the stars that slip through the clouds."

Lily's eyes widened. She could see tiny sparkles dancing in the water around the bear.

"The moon needs friends to help catch the falling stars," Luna explained. "Would you like to learn?"

Lily wanted to help! Luna taught her how to kick her legs and move her arms through the starlit water. They spent the whole afternoon swimming together, collecting the shimmering bits of light that twinkled beneath the surface.

When it was time to go home, Luna pressed something into Lily's hand — a small jar filled with captured starlight that glowed softly.

"Come back tomorrow, my friend," Luna said with a smile.

That night, Lily placed the jar on her windowsill. The starlight filled her room with gentle silver light, and she dreamed of swimming among the stars.

Lily returned every day that summer. She learned that sometimes the most magical friends are the ones you least expect, and that adventure is waiting in the most ordinary places — even a small pool behind an old oak tree.

Years later, whenever Lily saw stars twinkling in the night sky, she remembered her bear friend and their summer of starlight swimming, and she knew that magic is real for those who believe.
