The Midnight Star Pool

padelbulldogpool

Lily was supposed to be sleeping, but the full moon was too bright to ignore. Her golden retriever, Buster, nudged her hand with his wet nose, whining softly toward the backyard.

"What is it, boy?" Lily whispered, slipping out of bed. Buster led her to the garden, where something impossible was happening. The family's swimming pool wasn't filled with water anymore—it was filled with liquid starlight, swirling with silver and gold.

Suddenly, something splashed in the magical pool. A head popped up—not a fish or frog, but a small bull with constellation marks on his fur, like someone had sprinkled diamond dust across his nose.

"Oh, drat," said the bull, in a voice as rumbly as distant thunder. "I've lost my padel again."

Lily stepped closer, her bare feet tingling with magic. "What's a padel?"

The bull blinked at her with gentle brown eyes. "It's my magical paddle! I'm Ferdinand, and I play star-tennis with my friends in the night sky. But my padel fell into your pool, and I can't reach it without getting my hooves wet. Cows don't like swimming."

Buster bounded forward, diving straight into the starlight. He surfaced with a glowing paddle in his mouth, made of moonlight and stardust.

"Good dog!" Lily cried.

Ferdinand's eyes lit up. "Wonderful! Now I can return home." He looked at Lily. "Would you like to see where I live?"

Before she could answer, Ferdinand tapped the magical padel against the pool's edge. The starlight swirled upward, forming a glowing staircase into the sky. Buster barked excitedly.

Together, Lily, her dog, and the magical bull climbed into the night, past the moon and through constellations that twinkled like friendly greetings. Ferdinand showed her the cosmic tennis court where he and his friends played among the stars.

When Lily returned to bed that night, her pocket sparkled with stardust, and Buster dreamed of chasing comets. Some might say it was all imagination—but sometimes, the most magical adventures happen when you're brave enough to believe in the impossible.

And every full moon since, Lily glances out her window to see a small bull waving his padel from the stars, reminding her that magic exists for those who dare to look for it.
