The Midnight Spy Mission
Leo loved being a spy. Every Saturday night, he'd grab his flashlight and sneak through the house on secret missions, discovering magical treasures: glittery rocks, lost buttons, and once, even his sister's missing diary (which he quickly put back).
But tonight was different. Leo's older sister Mia had given him her old walkie-talkies, still connected by a curly cable that stretched across their bedroom. "You can be real spies now," she'd whispered with a wink. "Just don't wake Mom and Dad."
At midnight, Leo tiptoed downstairs in his fuzzy socks. The house was dark and shadowy, full of mysterious shapes. Suddenly, he heard a strange sound. *Shuffle, drag, shuffle.* A low groan echoed through the hallway.
A shadowy figure emerged from the kitchen! Arms stretched out stiff, eyes half-closed, moving like a robot that needed oil. *A zombie!* Leo's heart raced like a drum solo. But wait—zombies weren't real, were they?
Leo grabbed his walkie-talkie with shaking hands. "Mia! Come in! There's a zombie in the kitchen! Over!"
Through the cable, Mia's voice crackled back. "I'm coming, Agent Leo. Stay hidden and stay safe. Over!"
Together, brother and sister cornered the monster. When Mia shone her flashlight, they both gasped. It was Dad! Sleepwalking with his arms out, making zombie noises, heading straight for the refrigerator.
"Dad, wake up!" Leo shook him gently.
Dad blinked, rubbing his eyes. "Why am I in the kitchen? And why do I have peanut butter on my face?"
Leo and Mia collapsed laughing. The zombie was just a sleepwalking dad looking for midnight snacks again. This happened almost every month!
"Good work, Agent Mia," Leo whispered, clicking off his flashlight. "Mission complete. No zombies here. Just Dad dreaming about sandwiches."
The next morning, Dad had no memory of being a zombie. But Leo knew the truth: sometimes the scariest monsters are just family members who need a good night's sleep. And the best spies? They're the ones who love their family, zombie walks and all.
