The Midnight Pyramid
Lily was having trouble sleeping. Her stuffed zombie toy, Zippy, sat on her nightstand. He wasn't scary at all—he had bright green stitching for a smile and button eyes that sparkled like tiny moons.
"I wish we could go on an adventure," Lily whispered to Zippy.
Suddenly, Zippy blinked! His button eyes twinkled. "Let's go!" a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily gasped as Zippy hopped off the nightstand. Through her window, she saw a silver fox standing by the old oak tree. The fox's fur glowed like stardust.
"I'm Finn," said the fox. "Come with me!"
Lily followed in her pajamas, with Zippy bouncing beside her. Finn led them to the backyard, where something amazing had appeared—a golden pyramid, shining with magic!
"The Midnight Pyramid opens only once a year," Finn explained. "Inside is the most beautiful swimming pool in the world."
They stepped through the pyramid's entrance. Inside, everything sparkled like diamonds. In the center was a pool filled with water that looked like liquid rainbow.
"Swimming here lets you visit any dream you want," said Finn.
Lily dipped her toes in the magical water. Suddenly, she was flying over candy mountains, dancing with stars, and riding on moonbeams! Zippy swam like a little champion zombie, making splashes that turned into butterflies.
They played for what felt like hours, but when they stepped out of the pyramid, only minutes had passed.
"Remember," Finn whispered, "magic lives inside your imagination. The pyramid appears when you believe in dreams."
The next morning, Lily's yard looked normal again. But in her pocket, she found a golden pyramid charm, and Zippy had gained a tiny sparkle in his button eye.
Sometimes, Lily whispered, and the fox would return. And every night, she knew that magic was real—as long as she believed in it.
The best adventures are the ones you share with friends, even if one of them happens to be a very friendly zombie.
