The Midnight Pyramid
Lily loved building things. Cardboard castles, blanket forts, and once, even a toaster robot that didn't toast but could dance. Her best creation sat in the corner of her room—a bright orange pyramid made from cereal boxes and yellow tape.
Barnaby, her fluffy golden dog, would often nap beside it, twitching his nose as if dreaming of something wonderful.
One starry night, Lily woke to a strange golden glow. Her pyramid was humming! Tiny sparks swirled around it like fireflies caught in a dance. Barnaby stood beside it, his tail wagging excitedly.
"Barnaby, look!" Lily whispered.
Suddenly, the pyramid's cardboard walls turned to crystal. Inside, a tiny bronze bull stepped forward. He was no bigger than Lily's thumb, but his horns gleamed like polished copper.
"I am Brutus, Guardian of Lost Dreams," said the bull in a voice like gentle thunder. "My pyramid has chosen you. Someone is trapped in the Realm of Forgotten Wishes."
Lily's heart raced. "Who?"
"A dream that belonged to a child who stopped believing. Will you help?"
Lily nodded. Barnaby barked bravely.
"Hold hands and touch the pyramid," Brutus instructed.
Together, Lily, Barnaby, and the tiny bull stepped into the crystal pyramid. WHOOSH! They spun through rainbows and starlight before landing in a shimmering garden.
There, trapped in a bubble of gray mist, floated a glowing dream—the dream of a girl who wanted to fly.
"Only belief can pop that bubble," said Brutus. "Do you believe dreams can come true?"
Lily closed her eyes. She remembered building her pyramid, not knowing what it would become. She thought of every impossible thing she'd hoped for. "Yes," she said firmly. "I believe."
Barnaby let out a joyful bark.
POP! The bubble vanished, and the dream soared upward like a golden bird, free at last.
The pyramid hummed again, and they were back in Lily's room. Brutus bowed. "Thank you, Dream Keeper. The pyramid will be here whenever you're needed."
And then he was gone, the pyramid back to cardboard and tape. But Lily knew magic was real, and belief was the strongest power of all.
That night, Lily and Barnaby slept soundly, both dreaming of flying.
