The Midnight Pyramid

Lily's goldfish, Finny, was no ordinary fish. He swam in circles, creating bubbles that whispered secrets when they popped.

" Tonight's the night, Lily!" Finny's voice chimed like tiny bells. "The midnight pyramid opens!"

Lily rubbed her eyes. "But it's just a wooden box in the garden."

"Only at midnight!" Finny insisted. "Bring the golden cable from your treasure chest."

Lily's heart raced as she tiptoed outside. The moonlit garden held a surprise—where her wooden pyramid-shaped toy box usually stood, a shimmering crystal pyramid now glowed.

A long golden cable stretched from the pyramid to a nearby tree. Lily tugged it, and the pyramid's crystal door clicked open.

Inside, she found a boy about her age, holding a magical padel racket that sparkled with starlight.

"I've been trapped for three hundred years," the boy said sadly. "I challenged the Pyramid Guardian to a padel match, but I lost. Now I must wait for someone kind enough to help me win."

Lily's hands trembled as the Guardian appeared—a magnificent eagle made of clouds.

"Play against me," the eagle challenged. "Win, and your friend goes free. Lose, and you both stay forever."

Lily picked up the spare racket. But as she played, she noticed something strange—the eagle kept missing on purpose.

"Why aren't you trying?" Lily called out.

"Because you're playing with kindness," the eagle replied warmly. "I only defeat those who play with anger in their hearts."

The eagle vanished, and the pyramid glowed brighter.

"Thank you!" the boy cried. "I'm Sam, and now I'm your friend forever."

They ran outside just as dawn broke. The pyramid transformed back into Lily's wooden toy box, the golden cable into her old jump rope.

Finny winked from his bowl. "Some adventures, dear Lily, start with the smallest acts of kindness."

Lily smiled, knowing she'd found something magical—a friend, and the secret that kindness unlocks even the most enchanted doors.
