The Midnight Pool Party

Lily's grandmother had the most magical swimming pool in the world. Or at least, that's what Grandmother whispered with a wink every time Lily came to visit.

"But you can only see the magic at midnight," Grandmother said. "On the night of the full moon."

That night was tonight. Lily lay in her bed, watching the moon rise through her window. At exactly midnight, she tiptoed downstairs in her pajamas and peered through the garden gate.

The pool was glowing! Soft blue light rippled across the water, and suddenly, something magical happened. Lily's pet goldfish, Goldie, who usually swam in a small bowl inside, was now swimming in the big pool—and she was GIGANTIC! Goldie had grown to the size of a dolphin, with shimmering golden scales that sparkled like tiny stars.

But the most amazing surprise was yet to come.

All the pool toys that usually sat lifeless by the edge began to move. The inflatable rubber ducky waddled into the water. The foam noodles started wiggling like snakes. And the floating lounge chairs? They rose up and did the silliest, slowest dance Lily had ever seen.

"They call it the zombie dance," Goldie whispered, swimming closer to Lily with a grin. "Because they move so slowly and sleepily, like they're half-asleep! But really, they're just having fun!"

Lily laughed as the pool toys splashed and spun in their slow, silly zombie dance. Goldie invited Lily to join the midnight party, and soon Lily was dancing too, moving just as slowly and joyfully as her floating friends.

They danced until the moon began to set. As the first hint of sunrise colored the sky, Goldie shrank back to her normal size, and all the magical creatures settled down for their daytime sleep.

"Will you come back next month?" Goldie asked, swimming back to her small bowl inside.

"Every full moon," Lily promised. "I wouldn't miss our zombie pool party for anything!"

As Lily crawled back into bed, she realized that magic wasn't just about fairy tales or奇迹. The best magic was the kind that happened when friends—whether goldfish, pool toys, or girls—danced together under the moonlight, even if they did move like sleepy zombies.
