The Midnight Pool
Luna was a small black cat with bright yellow eyes, and she loved the night. One summer evening, when the air felt thick and heavy, she padded through the garden toward her favorite spot—the old stone pool behind the oak tree.
Suddenly, the sky flashed white. Lightning cracked across the dark clouds like a giant's zipper. Most cats would have run inside, but Luna was curious. She crept closer to the pool, where raindrops now danced on the surface like tiny silver fairies.
Then she saw him—a great brown bear with kind eyes, sitting beside the pool as if waiting for someone. Luna's fur stood up, but the bear smiled gently.
"I've been waiting for you, little friend," the bear rumbled softly. "This pool is magic. When lightning touches it, it shows you things no one else can see."
Another flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and the pool began to glow. Luna gasped. In the water, she saw images—children laughing, flowers blooming, stars twinkling, and something wonderful: herself, brave and fearless.
"The storm scares many," said the bear, "but courage isn't about not being afraid. It's about facing your fears and discovering the magic that waits on the other side."
Luna looked at the bear with new eyes. "Will you show me more?"
The bear nodded, and as lightning flashed again, the pool filled with swirling colors—purple, gold, and emerald green. Together, the cat and the bear watched the storm's beauty, no longer afraid but enchanted.
When morning came, the bear was gone, but Luna knew she would never be the same. She had learned that even the scariest storms could hide the most beautiful magic, and true friends appear when you're brave enough to face your fears.
From that night on, whenever lightning flashed, Luna would rush to the pool, remembering her friend the bear and the most important lesson of all: courage opens doors to wonder.
