The Midnight Garden's Secret

Maya lived in a cottage with a garden that ordinary people called ordinary. But Maya knew better.

Every night at midnight, she would peek through her curtains and watch the magic happen. The flowers would stretch their petals like they were waking up from a long nap. They moved slowly, gracefully, like beautiful garden zombies dancing in the moonlight. Maya called them her sleepy blossoms.

One especially starry night, Maya saw something new. A magnificent creature stood among the flowers—a bull made entirely of moonbeams and dewdrops. His fur shimmered like silver, and his horns glowed with the soft light of fireflies.

"Hello," Maya whispered, stepping outside in her bare feet.

The moon-bull turned his large, gentle eyes toward her. "I've been waiting for a friend like you," he said, and his voice sounded like wind chimes.

That night, the moon-bull showed Maya the secret of the midnight garden. Together they went running through fields of glowing mushrooms, past streams where tiny fish made of starlight swam, and into a forest where the trees whispered ancient stories.

"Why do you only appear at midnight?" Maya asked as they rested beside a pond that reflected a whole other galaxy.

"Because that's when the world is quiet enough to hear magic," the moon-bull explained. "Most people are too busy with their noisy days to notice us. But you—you listened."

From that night on, Maya had a secret midnight friend. She learned that the world is full of magic for those who take time to notice the small wonders—the way flowers bloom slowly like beautiful sleepy dancers, the warmth of a friend's presence, and the joy of running through a world that comes alive when most people are fast asleep.

And every morning, Maya would wake up with silver dust in her hair, knowing that somewhere, her moon-bull friend was waiting for midnight to fall again.
