The Midnight Garden Dance

Lily was supposed to be sleeping, but the full moon called to her through her window. She crept downstairs to the backyard, where her plastic pool still had water from daytime splashing. That's when she saw it—lightning flashed, not from the sky, but from the garden gnome's hat!

The lightning sparked a glow around her old teddy **bear**, who had been left outside. Suddenly, Mr. Fluffington wiggled his fuzzy paws and stood up! Lily gasped as more magic flowed. Her toy **bull**, Fernando, began to shake his head and do a silly, stiff-legged dance.

"I call this my **zombie** dance!" Fernando said in a deep rumbly voice. "It's when you let your body move like magic is pulling your strings!"

Lily giggled. "Teach me!"

Soon, the whole garden came alive. Flowers stretched their petals. Fireflies arranged themselves into sparkly letters. And the **pool** water began to ripple with rainbow colors.

"We need music!" Mr. Fluffington declared. The wind picked up, whistling through the trees like a flute. Crickets tapped their legs like tiny drums.

Lily, the bear, and the bull danced under the moon—spinning, jumping, and doing the silly zombie dance together. Lily felt so happy her heart wanted to burst.

As the first hint of dawn painted the sky, Fernando grew still. "The magic fades with morning, little friend. But remember this—"

"What?" Lily whispered.

"Joy wakes the world," the bull said softly. "You danced with us because you chose wonder over sleep. Magic lives in curious hearts."

Lily hugged Mr. Fluffington tight. "I'll never forget this night."

She woke up in her own bed, Mr. Fluffington tucked beside her, Fernando on her pillow. But in the garden, one perfect rose had bloomed overnight, glowing with the faintest shimmer of moonlight.

Some magic, Lily learned, stays with you forever—especially the magic of friendship and dancing under the stars.
