The Midnight Baseball Pool
Leo stared at the empty pool in his backyard. The water shimmered like liquid diamonds in the moonlight. He couldn't sleep, so he crept outside in his pajamas.
Suddenly, tiny bubbles rose to the surface. POP! POP! POP!
Leo gasped. A goldfish with shimmering orange scales leaped out of the water, wearing a tiny baseball cap!
"Come on down!" the goldfish chirped. "You're just in time for the big game!"
Before Leo could respond, the water began to glow. Softly, gently, he slipped into the pool. But instead of getting wet, he felt like he was floating in a magical dream.
Under the surface, dozens of goldfish were gathered around a miniature baseball diamond made of colorful pebbles. They wore tiny caps and held small sticks as bats.
"I'm Finn!" the goldfish with the cap said. "Welcome to the Midnight Baseball League!"
Leo watched in wonder as Finn tossed a water-ball — a perfect sphere of shimmering water that glowed like moonbeams. Another goldfish swung his bat and — SPLASH! — the water-ball flew through the imaginary bleachers.
"We practice every night," Finn explained proudly. "Someday, we'll be the best baseball players in the whole ocean!"
Leo smiled. "Can I play too?"
Finn thought for a moment. "Only if you believe in magic!"
"I believe!" Leo said without hesitation.
For hours, they played the most wonderful game. Leo learned that baseball underwater was even better than on land — you could jump higher, slide farther, and the water-balls never hurt when they hit you.
When the first light of dawn appeared, Finn nodded solemnly. "Time to go back. But remember — big dreams can come in small packages."
Leo climbed out of the pool, now just a regular pool again. But as he looked back, he saw one final water-ball curve through the air, leaving a trail of sparkles.
From that night on, Leo never underestimated anyone's dreams — especially not the tiny goldfish who taught him that magic exists if you're brave enough to believe.
