The Midnight Baseball Game
Leo loved baseball more than anything in the world. Every night, he dreamed of hitting home runs under the stars. One full-moon night, he heard a strange _thwack_ coming from the park behind his house.
He tiptoed outside in his pajamas and peeked through the fence. What he saw made his eyes go wide! A giant grizzly **bear** stood at home plate, holding a bat with its massive paws. On the pitcher's mound was a fuzzy green **zombie**—but not a scary one. This zombie wore a bright red cap and kept adjusting his glasses.
"Strike one!" bleated a tiny **bull** who sat behind home plate, wearing an oversized umpire mask. The bull's name was Buster, and he looked very serious about his job.
Leo stepped onto the field. "Can I play?" he asked.
The bear smiled and handed him a bat. The zombie pitcher threw a perfect pitch. Leo swung with all his might—_CRACK!_ The ball sailed over the moon!
They played until dawn, the most magical baseball game ever. The bear hit home runs that shook the trees. Buster the bull called fair plays, even when the zombie's arm fell off mid-throw (he just popped it back on and kept pitching!).
As the sun rose, his new friends waved goodbye and vanished like morning mist. Leo found a shiny baseball on his pillow—a gift from his midnight friends.
He learned that the best games are played with heart, not just skill, and that friends can be found in the most unexpected places. Sometimes, the most magical things happen when you're brave enough to say, "Can I play?"
