The Magical Zombie Friend
Lily loved summer days at the community center. Every morning, she'd grab her padel racket and rush to the sports court. Padel was her favorite game – like tennis, but with walls that made the ball bounce in surprising ways!
One hot afternoon, after an exciting game, Lily noticed something strange near the swimming pool. A boy walked slowly toward the water. His skin looked pale green, his arms swung stiffly, and he made soft groaning sounds.
Lily's eyes went wide. "A zombie!" she whispered, remembering the monster stories her older brother told.
But this zombie didn't want brains. He just wanted to swim! The boy slipped into the cool pool with a big splash. When he came up, he was laughing and splashing water everywhere.
"Hi!" Lily called out bravely. "I'm Lily. Are you... a real zombie?"
The boy grinned. "My name is Zed, and yes, I'm a zombie! But I'm a friendly zombie. I live in the magical garden behind the community center."
Lily was curious. "Do you want to play padel?"
Zed's eyes lit up. "I've never played before!"
They spent the afternoon together. Zed was surprisingly good at padel – his zombie strength made the ball fly fast! Then they cooled off in the pool, where Zed taught Lily how to do zombie underwater somersaults.
"Being different doesn't mean being scary," Zed told her. "Everyone just needs a friend who understands them."
Lily smiled. She had learned something important that day – sometimes the things that seem strange at first can turn out to be wonderful. And the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to say hello.
"See you tomorrow, Zed!" Lily called as the sun began to set.
"See you tomorrow, friend!" Zed waved, already planning their next game of padel.
From that day on, Lily and Zed were the best of friends, proving that friendship can be found in the most unexpected places – even with a zombie who loves padel and pool parties!
