The Magical Star Vitamin

Max loved baseball more than anything, but he was the worst player on his team. Every time he stepped up to the plate, he struck out. Even his dog, Barnaby—a golden retriever with one floppy ear—would bark encouragingly from the sidelines, but Max just felt discouraged.

One afternoon, Max's grandmother gave him a small bottle of colorful pills. "These aren't ordinary vitamins," she whispered mysteriously. "They're star vitamins. Take one with water before a big game, and make a wish."

Max didn't believe in magic, but that Saturday, when his team faced their biggest rivals, he decided to try. He swallowed a sparkling blue vitamin with a glass of water and squeezed his eyes shut. "I wish I could hit a home run," he whispered.

But when Max stepped up to the plate, something strange happened. Instead of feeling stronger, he felt... lighter. Like he was floating! The pitcher threw the ball, and Max swung—but so did Barnaby, who had somehow wandered onto the field!

CRACK! The baseball sailed into the clouds.

Suddenly, rain began to fall—not ordinary rain, but glittering droplets that tasted like strawberry. Everyone started laughing and dancing in the magical water. Max's teammates, the other team, even the umpire!

"The star vitamin doesn't make you win," Max's grandmother called from the stands, smiling. "It helps you remember that playing is supposed to be fun!"

Max looked at Barnaby, who was now wearing a tiny baseball cap he'd found somewhere. Max realized she was right. He hadn't hit a home run, but something even better had happened. Everyone was smiling. No one was keeping score. They were just playing.

From that day on, Max wasn't the best player, but he was the happiest. And whenever the game got too serious, Barnaby would run onto the field with that silly cap, and everyone would remember: the real magic wasn't in the vitamin at all. It was in playing together, under the bright sky, with your best friend by your side.
