The Magical Pool of Light
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's old house. The best part was the mysterious swimming pool behind the garden – a pool that shimmered like liquid stars when the moon hit it just right.
One summer evening, while everyone else watched TV inside, Lily sat by the pool's edge, dangling her feet in the cool water. Something glinted at the bottom, catching the moonlight. Without thinking, she reached in – and pulled out a strange object she'd never seen before. It was smooth and black, with a glowing screen.
"What is this?" she whispered.
"An iPhone," said a small voice from the water. Lily gasped as tiny creatures with wings like dragonflies but bodies made of light popped up from the surface. "We are the Pool Sprites, guardians of forgotten things. Humans drop treasures into our waters, and we keep them safe."
Lily held up the device. "It's beautiful. Does it work?"
The oldest sprite, whose wings shimmered silver, nodded. "Touch it, child. But carefully – it has been swimming with us for many years."
When Lily's finger brushed the screen, it burst to life! Photos of happy people, birthday parties, beach days, and someone who looked very much like her grandmother when she was young floated across the display. "This was Grandma's!" Lily realized.
"Yes," said a warm voice behind her. Grandma stood there, smiling at the memory of her lost phone. "I dropped it here fifty years ago, the summer I met your grandfather. We took so many pictures that day."
Lily looked down at the magical pool. "You kept it safe all this time?"
"We keep everything precious," the sprites said together. "Every happy memory, every lost treasure – they all find their way home eventually."
That night, Lily learned something wonderful: some things might get lost, but the truly important ones – love, memories, friendship – always find their way back to us, often when we least expect them.
And sometimes, magic is waiting right at the bottom of a pool, just waiting for someone curious enough to look.
