The Magical Pool of Dreams
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's garden. It wasn't just any garden – behind the old oak tree, there was a secret swimming pool that sparkled like liquid diamonds under the moonlight.
One warm summer evening, Lily discovered something amazing. Floating in the magical pool were glowing fruits – a bright orange, a ripe papaya, and leaves of fresh green spinach. But these weren't ordinary fruits. They were dream fruits, planted by the garden's ancient guardian.
"Don't be afraid," said a creaky voice. Lily turned to see the strangest creature she'd ever seen. It looked like a zombie, with patchy green skin and messy hair, but his eyes were kind and twinkled like stars.
"I'm Zephyr, the garden keeper," he explained. "And I'm not really a zombie. I'm just very, very old and a bit wilted from protecting this pool for three hundred years."
Lily giggled. Zephyr wasn't scary at all – he was lonely and needed a friend. He explained that the magical pool granted one wish each summer to someone with a pure heart.
"I wish," Lily said thoughtfully, "that everyone could see how beautiful and special you are, Zephyr. You've been so brave, protecting this magic pool all by yourself for so long."
The pool began to glow brighter than ever. The orange, papaya, and spinach swirled together in a golden rainbow. Zephyr's patchy skin transformed into smooth, warm brown. His messy hair became soft and curly. But his kind eyes stayed exactly the same.
"Thank you, Lily," Zephyr smiled, standing tall for the first time in centuries. "You taught me that true friends see with their hearts, not their eyes."
That night, Lily learned that sometimes the scariest-looking creatures are the ones who need friendship the most. And every summer after that, she returned to swim in the magical pool with her very best friend, sharing papaya and oranges under the stars.
