The Magical Orange Vitamin
Emma clutched her baseball glove tightly. Today was the big game, and she was nervous. Her grandmother smiled and handed her something peculiar—an orange that glowed like a tiny sun.
"This isn't just any orange," Grandma whispered. "It's a magical orange. Inside, each seed is a vitamin for something special. One seed for courage, one for kindness, one for believing in yourself."
Emma's eyes widened. She peeled the orange carefully, and sure enough, the seeds sparkled like little stars. She swallowed the courage vitamin first.
Suddenly, the baseball diamond looked different. The bases weren't just white pillows—they were stepping stones to adventure. The ball wasn't leather and stitching—it was a pearl waiting to be caught.
"You can do this, Emma!" Her best friend José waved from the dugout.
Emma smiled and took the kindness vitamin. She handed a piece of the magical orange to the new kid, Marco, who looked even more nervous than she felt.
"Try it," Emma said. "It helps."
Marco's face lit up as the orange's magic filled him too. The game began, and something wonderful happened. Every time someone made a mistake, teammates called out encouragement instead of groans. Every time someone scored high-fives and cheers erupted like fireworks.
Emma caught a fly ball that seemed to hang in the air forever, as if the orange's magic was helping her. Marco hit his first home run, his face beaming brighter than the orange itself.
Their team didn't win the championship, but as they walked home, eating the remaining orange slices together, Emma realized something important. The real magic wasn't in the vitamins—it was in believing in yourself and helping others believe too.
"Next week," Emma said, licking orange juice from her fingers, "we'll bring enough magical oranges for the whole team."
And that's exactly what they did.
