The Magical Mix-Up

Lily's goldfish Sparkle wasn't ordinary. With scales like sunset clouds and fins that shimmered like rainbow dust, Sparkle could grant ONE wish. Lily knew exactly what she wanted.

"I wish my dog Barnaby could come inside and play padel with me!" Lily whispered, leaning over the fishbowl.

Sparkle's fins glowed bright purple. POOF!

But something went wrong. Instead of just Barnaby, the magic spilled across the garden where Lily had been playing earlier. The padel racket she'd left outside began to wiggle, then dance, then summon helpers from the ground.

Up popped the sunshine zombies—friendly, glowing creatures who loved to play! They weren't scary at all. They had smiles like crescent moons and moved like they were made of happy thoughts. One zombie wore flowers on his head. Another had butterfly wings.

"PLAY!" they cheered in voices like wind chimes. "PLAY PADEL WITH US!"

Barnaby barked joyfully and grabbed a ball in his mouth. The zombies clapped and giggled. Lily grabbed her magic padel racket, and the most wonderful game began.

They played until sunset painted the sky pink and gold. The zombies taught Lily and Barnaby special dances between points. Barnaby learned to hit the ball with his nose (and sometimes his tail!). Lily laughed so much her stomach hurt.

When Sparkle's magic began to fade, the zombies blew sparkly kisses and sank back into the earth, promising to return whenever Lily played outside.

"That was better than any normal wish," Lily told Sparkle, who swam in happy circles. Sometimes the best magic comes from mistakes—especially when it brings new friends.
