The Magical Midnight Pool

Lily and Max loved their backyard pool, but they never guessed it was magical – until the night of the full moon.

That night, they peeked through their window and saw something amazing. The pool water was glowing with soft blue light, and something was rising from the depths!

"Is that a zombie?" Max whispered, eyes wide.

But this zombie was different. He had sparkly green skin, a friendly smile, and wore a old-fashioned baseball cap. He waved!

"Hello!" said the zombie. "I'm Zomby, and I've been sleeping in this pool for fifty years. Would you like to play magical padel with me?"

"What's padel?" asked Lily, stepping outside.

"It's like tennis and squash had a magical baby!" Zomby laughed. He clapped his hands, and suddenly a glowing padel court appeared beside the pool. The racquets shimmered with rainbow light.

They played the most wonderful game. Every time Zomby hit the ball, it left a trail of sparkles. When Lily served, butterflies fluttered from the ball. Max's winning shot made actual baseballs rain from the sky!

"But I'm still hungry from my long sleep," Zomby said afterward, patting his green tummy. "Do you have any spinach?"

Lily ran to the garden and picked fresh spinach leaves. Zomby's eyes widened. "Magical spinach! This will give me power to stay in our world one whole night!"

As he ate, Zomby glowed brighter. "Thank you! Now I can show you something special." He pointed to the water. "Watch!"

The pool transformed into a portal showing different worlds – one with candy trees, another with flying whales, a third with dancing stars.

"This pool shows all the magical places in the universe," Zomby explained. "I protect them. But I needed friends to help me remember why."

Max realized something important. "You seemed scary at first, but you're actually kind and lonely."

"That's the lesson," Zomby said softly. "Never judge someone by how they look. The scariest creatures might be the most wonderful friends."

They spent the rest of that magical night playing padel, eating spinach, and peeking into magical worlds through the glowing pool. When sunrise came, Zomby promised to return every full moon.
