The Magical Lightning Storm

Lily loved summer evenings at the lake with her golden retriever, Buster. The water sparkled like diamonds under the setting sun, and Buster couldn't wait to go swimming. His tail wagged so hard that his whole body wiggled.

"Come on, Buster!" Lily called, splashing into the cool water. Buster bounded after her, creating a big splash that made Lily giggle. They swam together, the water feeling like liquid silk around them.

Suddenly, the sky turned dark purple. A crack of lightning split the sky like nature's own fireworks display. Another bolt flashed, and something strange happened. The water around Lily began to glow softly.

Buster barked happily, paddling toward something floating near the dock. An old iphone—its screen cracked but still working—bobbed on the surface. When Lily touched it, the screen came alive with dancing lights, like tiny captured stars.

"That's weird," Lily whispered. But as the next lightning bolt flashed across the sky, the iphone projected magical pictures onto the water's surface—images of dogs swimming through clouds, fish flying like birds, and rainbows that looped and swirled.

Buster barked at the magical display, trying to catch the flying fish pictures with his paws. Lily laughed, feeling like she'd stepped into a dream.

The storm passed quickly, leaving behind a sky full of actual stars. The iphone's screen faded to black, but Lily didn't mind. She and Buster swam back to shore, their hearts full of wonder.

"Some magic only comes when lightning strikes," Lily's grandmother later explained, as Lily dried Buster's fur with a fluffy towel. "But the real magic is sharing moments with those you love."

That night, Lily fell asleep dreaming of glowing water and lightning that carried magic instead of storms, knowing that some treasures—like an evening swim with your best friend—don't need to be captured on a phone to be remembered forever.
