The Magical Garden Phone

Lily loved her new iphone, but mostly because it could take pictures of the magical things she found in her grandmother's garden. One sunny afternoon, while snapping photos of butterflies, she noticed something strange. A bright orange rolling toward her!

It wasn't just any orange — it had tiny feet and a big smile! "Hello there!" said the orange, whose name was Clementine. "I need your help!"

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk?"

"Of course!" Clementine bounced excitedly. "My best friend, a spinach leaf named Spinny, is trapped in the giant rose bush. He's too scared to come out!"

Lily knelt down. "I'll help you!" Using her iphone's flashlight, she peeked into the rose bush and saw a trembling green leaf.

"It's okay, Spinny," Lily said gently. "I'm your friend too."

Spinny peeked out. "Really? You want to be friends with a spinach leaf?"

"The best friends come in all shapes and sizes," Lily smiled. She carefully helped Spinny out of the bush.

"Thank you!" Spinny said. "Clementine and I were playing tag when I got stuck."

"We should all play together!" Lily suggested. For the rest of the afternoon, the three new friends played hide-and-seek among the flowers. Clementine's orange color made her easy to spot, but Spinny was excellent at camouflaging among the leaves.

As the sun began to set, Lily's grandmother called her for dinner. "I have to go," Lily said sadly.

"Will you come back tomorrow?" Clementine asked.

"Every day," Lily promised. "Because that's what friends do."

That night at dinner, when Lily's grandmother served spinach, Lily couldn't stop smiling. She knew that somewhere in the garden, a little spinach leaf named Spinny was probably sleeping, and somewhere else, a brave orange named Clementine was dreaming of their next adventure.

And Lily learned that magic exists everywhere — you just have to be brave enough to say hello to it.
