The Magical Garden Mystery

Lily was seven years old and had a secret: she was a garden spy. Every morning, she peeked through the fence with her dog Barnaby, a fluffy golden retriever who wagged his tail at everything.

One Tuesday, something strange happened. Behind the old oak tree, Lily spotted a figure shuffling slowly. Its skin was pale green, and it moved like a rusted robot. The neighborhood kids whispered about a zombie.

"I'm going to investigate," Lily whispered to Barnaby. She grabbed her jump rope – a bright pink cable – and tiptoed closer.

The zombie was not scary at all. It was a girl her age, named Zara, who had fallen under a sleepwalking spell from reading too many magic books. Zara's grandmother had planted a special garden with enchanted spinach that could wake her up, but Zara couldn't find it in her dazed state.

Lily and Barnaby became Zara's friends. They searched the garden together. Barnaby sniffed every plant until he barked at a patch of vibrant green leaves. Magical spinach!

Lily plucked a leaf and held it to Zara's lips. The moment Zara ate it, her eyes brightened like stars. The spell broke!

"Thank you!" Zara said, spinning around. "You're the best friend ever."

From that day on, the three of them tended the enchanted garden together. Lily learned that things aren't always what they seem, and friendship is the strongest magic of all.
