The Magical Diamond in the Sky

Leo's pet goldfish, Fin, was no ordinary fish. His scales shimmered like tiny stars, and sometimes Leo could have sworn Fin was watching him through the glass bowl.

One Saturday afternoon, Leo sat in his backyard, his baseball glove gathering dust beside him. "I'll never hit a home run," he sighed. His cousin Maya peeked over the fence, wearing her old Halloween costume — a funny dancing zombie with patchwork clothes and green face paint.

"Brains!" Maya joked, making Leo giggle. "What's wrong, slugger?"

Leo shrugged. "Baseball is too hard. The ball always disappears into the bushes."

Fin's bowl sat on the porch table, catching a beam of sunlight. Suddenly, the most amazing thing happened. Fin began to glow!

The old television cable that strung between two trees began to sparkle like diamond dust. It stretched and wove itself into the shape of a perfect baseball diamond floating in the air.

"Whoa!" Maya breathed.

Fin's voice echoed in their minds: *"The magic was inside you both all along. Friendship makes anything possible.*"

Leo grabbed his bat. Maya, still in her zombie costume, offered to pitch. Every time Leo swung, the goldfish's glow grew brighter. CRACK! The ball sailed through the magical diamond and rained down as golden sparkles.

They played until sunset, laughing and chasing imaginary home runs. The cable-diamond faded as stars appeared above, but something remained — the warm feeling of believing in yourself and your friends.

"You know," Leo whispered to Fin that night, "you're the best goldfish ever."

Fin just blew a tiny bubble that looked suspiciously like a baseball. Some magic, Leo realized, doesn't need glowing cables or perfect pitches. The best magic is simply playing with someone who believes in you.
