The Magical Baseball Summer

Leo loved nothing more than baseball. Every summer day, you could find him in the backyard, swinging his favorite bat and dreaming of hitting home runs like the pros.

One hot afternoon, Leo's dog Buster started barking wildly at something in the old palm tree near the fence. Leo looked up and spotted his goldfish, Goldie, swimming in a mysterious puddle inside a hollow of the tree—but Goldie didn't live in a puddle. She lived in a bowl in Leo's bedroom!

'How did you get here?' Leo asked, climbing up the rough bark.

Goldie splashed excitedly, and suddenly Leo's forgotten iPhone, which had been sitting on the grass nearby, lit up with a strange glow. Messages appeared on the screen: *Need help. Magic fading. Wish required.*

Leo gasped. His phone was translating Goldie's thoughts!

Buster barked again, nudging Leo's hand with his wet nose. The dog seemed to understand what was happening.

'I wish Goldie could swim anywhere she wants,' Leo said, thinking hard. 'Not stuck in a bowl or a puddle.'

The palm tree's leaves shimmered with golden light. Goldie's puddle expanded into a beautiful stream that flowed through the yard, sparkling with magic. Goldie swam joyfully, splashing water that turned into tiny rainbows in the sunshine.

'Friendship isn't about keeping someone close,' Leo realized, watching Goldie explore her new watery world. 'It's about helping them be free.'

That summer, Leo still loved baseball, but he discovered something even better—magic adventures with his dog, his goldfish friend, and a palm tree that kept secrets only children could understand.

And whenever Goldie swam past, she'd splash a greeting that sounded just like 'home run!'
