The Magical Baseball Game
Max loved summer evenings. His golden retriever, Buster, would wag his tail so hard that his whole body wiggled like jelly. But Max's favorite thing was playing baseball in the backyard with his friends.
One day, something magical happened. Max hit the baseball so high that it disappeared into the clouds! When it came down, it brought something with it—a gentle bull who loved sports more than anything.
"May I play?" the bull asked softly. His name was Benny, and he had been watching Max practice from a nearby farm. Benny was surprisingly fast for such a big animal, and he could hit the baseball farther than anyone!
Soon, more unusual friends joined their game. A shy zombie named Zara wandered by. She looked scary at first, with her green skin and tattered clothes, but Max noticed she was just lonely.
"Want to learn how to play?" Max asked kindly.
Zara's eyes lit up. She had been looking for friends for so long! Even though she moved slowly and sometimes fell apart—literally, her arm would fall off and she'd laugh as she put it back on—she became the best at catching fly balls. She could stand completely still for hours, waiting for the perfect catch.
Then came Penelope, who knew a fun game called padel. It was like tennis but played in a small court with walls. She taught them all how to hit the ball against the walls, making magical bounces and trick shots.
Every evening, they played together. Benny the bull would hit home runs, Zara would catch impossible balls, Penelope would teach them new padel tricks, Buster would chase balls and return them with muddy paws, and Max would smile because his new friends were the best team ever.
The other kids in the neighborhood had been scared of Zara at first, but Max showed them that being different doesn't mean being scary. Zara just wanted to play and make friends, just like everyone else.
"Real friends look with their hearts, not just their eyes," Max's mom said when she saw them all playing together.
That summer, Max learned something wonderful: when you open your heart to others, even the most unlikely friends can become the best teammates. And sometimes, the strangest group of friends makes the most magical memories.
Now whenever Max plays baseball, he always leaves an extra spot on his team. You never know who might need a friend—and who might become your best teammate ever.
