The Magic Water Pool

Lily loved summer more than anything. Her curly brown hair bounced as she ran toward the community pool, her flip-flops slapping against the hot pavement. Today was special — her best friend Mateo was teaching her something new.

"I've been practicing padel every day," Mateo said, holding up a small racquet. "Now you try!"

Lily held the racquet and swung at the floating ball. Splash! It went right into the water. She giggled, wiping her wet hair from her face.

"You'll get it!" Mateo encouraged. "Remember when I couldn't hit a baseball to save my life?"

Lily smiled. That was true. Last summer, Mateo had joined the baseball team but kept missing the ball. Lily had practiced with him every day until he finally hit his first home run.

"Your turn!" Lily called, diving into the cool blue water. Swimming was her favorite thing in the world. She loved how the water made her feel weightless, like she could fly.

Suddenly, something magical happened. The water around them began to sparkle with tiny lights, like fireflies underwater.

"Did you see that?" Mateo whispered.

The lights grew brighter, forming shapes in the water — a baseball, a padel racquet, even a swimming fish made entirely of glowing light. The magical water seemed to be showing them all the things they loved.

"It's the Pool of Dreams," said an elderly woman sitting nearby. "Every summer, it shows children what they can achieve if they help each other."

Lily and Mateo looked at each other with wide eyes.

"We did it together," Lily said softly. "Just like baseball."

"Just like everything," Mateo added.

The lights danced one last time before fading away, but the magic stayed in their hearts. They spent the rest of the afternoon swimming, playing, and imagining all the adventures they'd share.

That night, Lily dreamed of glowing water and endless summers. She realized the real magic wasn't in the pool at all — it was having a friend who believed in you, and who let you believe in them too.
