The Magic Vitamin in the Blue
Lily stood at the edge of Crystal Lake, her toes wiggling in the warm sand. The water sparkled like someone had sprinkled diamonds across its surface. But Lily wouldn't go in.
"The water is too deep," she told her grandfather. "What if I sink?"
Her grandfather smiled and pulled something from his pocket. It was a small, glowing orange capsule. "This, my dear, is a Brave Vitamin. One bite, and you'll swim like a fish."
Lily's eyes went wide. "Really?"
"Really." He winked. "But you must discover the magic yourself."
She took the tiny vitamin and held it up to the sun. It hummed with warmth, like it held a tiny piece of a rainbow inside. With a deep breath, Lily swallowed it.
Nothing happened.
Then — WHOOSH!
The lake began to glow. Blue light rippled outward from where she stood, and suddenly the water wasn't just water anymore. It was liquid stars, swirling and shimmering.
Lily dipped one foot in. Instead of sinking, she felt light as a bubble. She dipped the other foot. The same magical lightness!
She took a deep breath and jumped — and began swimming through water that felt like soft silk. Fish made of starlight darted around her. Crystals sang when she passed them. Deeper and deeper she went, until she found a baby sea dragon trapped in a tangle of old seaweed.
The little creature's eyes were sad.
Without thinking, Lily grabbed the seaweed and pulled. It was strong, but she was stronger now — not because of the vitamin, but because she wasn't afraid.
The sea dragon chirped with joy and nuzzled her cheek. Then something magical happened. The dragon touched her forehead with its snout, and Lily suddenly understood: the Brave Vitamin wasn't magic at all.
It was just a regular vitamin. The magic had always been inside HER.
Lily swam back to the surface, her heart full of wonder. Her grandfather was waiting.
"How was your adventure?" he asked with a twinkle in his eye.
Lily smiled, water dripping from her hair like tiny gems. "The magic wasn't the vitamin, Grandpa. The magic was me being brave enough to try."
And from that day on, every time Lily went swimming, she remembered: sometimes the greatest magic is already inside you, just waiting for you to be brave enough to let it out.
