The Magic Vitamin Dog

Lily was the new girl in town, and she hadn't made a single friend yet. Every day at recess, she sat alone under the big oak tree, watching other children laugh and play.

One afternoon, something wonderful happened. A scruffy golden dog with warm brown eyes trotted right up to her. His fur was patched with sunlight, and his tail wagged like a metronome keeping time to a happy song only he could hear.

"Hello there," Lily whispered, and the dog licked her hand. His name was Barnaby, according to the red tag on his collar.

Barnaby became Lily's first friend in the new town. They went on adventures together — exploring the woods behind her house, chasing butterflies, and having picnics with peanut butter sandwiches. Barnaby would sit beside her, listening as if he understood every word she said.

Then came the day Lily discovered Barnaby's secret. They were playing when something shiny fell out of his fur. It was a tiny, glowing bottle filled with sparkling blue liquid.

Inside was a magic vitamin. Barnaby nudged it toward her with his wet nose, as if he wanted her to have it.

That night, Lily dreamt she could speak to animals. When she woke, Barnaby was waiting at her window, and somehow she understood him completely.

"These vitamins," Barnaby explained, "are made from friendship. Every time someone makes a new friend, another vitamin appears in my fur. They're magic because they help lonely hearts find each other."

Lily's eyes widened. "You have more vitamins, don't you?"

Barnaby's tail thumped happily. He shook, and three more glowing bottles fell to the floor. "Today," he said, "you will make three new friends. And they'll need these vitamins too, so they can find their own friends someday."

At school, Lily felt brave for the first time. She gave a vitamin to Emma, the quiet girl who loved drawing. Another went to Marcus, who always read books at recess. The third went to Sam, who looked lonely too.

By the end of the day, Lily had three new friends. She also learned something magical — friendship is the real superpower. It grows every time you share it, and the more you give away, the more you have.

Barnaby wagged his tail as if to say, "See? The magic was inside you all along."
