The Magic Storm Hat
Maya lived in a small house by the sparkling sea, where tall palm trees danced in the warm breeze every day. She loved climbing the biggest palm tree in her yard, sitting among the green leaves to watch the waves roll in and out.
One afternoon, as Maya reached for a perfect coconut, something tumbled down from the palm fronds above. It landed right in her open palm — a floppy blue hat with a silver buckle shining like a tiny moon.
"Where did you come from?" Maya wondered, turning the hat around. It felt warm, as if it had been soaking up sunshine. She placed it on her head, and it fit perfectly.
That evening, a storm rolled in across the ocean. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy, and suddenly — FLASH! A bolt of lightning lit up the whole sky.
But when the lightning flashed, something magical happened. Maya could see glowing trails leading to lost things! There, near the garden fence, a golden trail led to something buried in the sand.
Outside she ran (with her mother watching safely from the porch), following another lightning flash. The glow led her to her neighbor Mrs. Chen's backyard. There, stuck under a bush, was Mrs. Chen's favorite cat, Mittens, scared but safe.
"Thank you, Maya!" Mrs. Chen cried, hugging her furry friend. "How did you find her?"
Maya touched her blue hat and smiled. "Sometimes, storms help us see what really matters."
From that day on, whenever lightning flashed across the sky, Maya knew someone might need help finding something precious. And she would be ready, with her magic hat and her brave heart.
