The Magic Pyramid's Secret
Seven-year-old Toby was playing in his grandmother's garden when he spotted something strange. Behind the rosebushes stood a perfect little pyramid, no bigger than a shoebox, glowing with soft rainbow light.
Toby knelt beside it. The pyramid's sides shimmered like soap bubbles. As he reached out, it clicked open like a puzzle box.
Inside swam a tiny goldfish in a beautiful crystal pool. But this wasn't any ordinary fish — she had sparkly silver fins and big, wise eyes.
"Hello!" bubbled the goldfish. "I'm Pearl. I've been waiting for a friend."
Toby's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"Magical goldfish always talk," Pearl said proudly. "But I'm hungry. Do you have any spinach?"
"Spinach?" Toby laughed. "Fish don't eat spinach!"
"Magical goldfish do," Pearl insisted. "Spinach gives us the power to grant wishes."
Toby remembered the salad his grandmother had made for lunch. He ran to the kitchen and came back with a bright green spinach leaf.
Pearl nibbled it happily. Then suddenly, her scales began to glow even brighter. The pyramid started spinning.
"Make a wish, friend!" Pearl cried.
Toby thought hard. "I wish... I wish my grandmother wasn't so lonely since Grandpa went to the stars."
Pearl's magic swirled around them like glittery wind. In the pyramid's reflection, Toby saw his grandmother sitting in her chair, smiling warmly as she looked at old photographs.
"She isn't lonely," Pearl whispered. "She's remembering all the love they shared. And now she has YOU to make new memories with."
Toby understood. Love never truly disappears — it just changes shape, like light reflecting off a golden fish's scales.
The pyramid clicked shut, but Toby and Pearl remained friends. Every day, Toby brought spinach, and Pearl showed him tiny wonders: rainbows in dewdrops, music in wind chimes, magic in everyday moments.
Some pyramids hold secrets. But the best ones hold friends.
