The Magic Pyramid of Dreams
Maya stacked her baseball cards carefully, forming a shining pyramid on her bedroom floor. The cards glimmered in the afternoon sunlight like golden treasures. Each card held a memory—a game with her dad, a home run caught, a sunny afternoon at the park.
"Another perfect pyramid," Maya whispered, but then the pyramid began to glow. The cards shimmered and transformed into stone blocks, towering up to the ceiling.
A tiny toy bull she'd placed beside her cards came to life, growing until he stood as tall as Maya's knees. His fur was soft as clouds, his eyes kind as stars.
"Welcome, Maya," the bull said in a voice like gentle thunder. "I'm Barnaby, and you've built the Magic Pyramid of Dreams. What adventure shall we find inside?"
Maya's eyes widened. "A real adventure? Like in my storybooks?"
"Even better," Barnaby winked. "An adventure of your own making."
Maya grabbed her backpack. "Wait! I need my magic vitamins!" She popped two orange gummies into her mouth—her imagination vitamins, Mom called them. "Now I'm ready!"
She reached for her iPhone to capture the moment, but Barnaby shook his head. "In the Magic Pyramid, memories are made with your heart, not a screen. The best adventures live inside you forever."
Maya paused, then set the phone down. "You're right. Let's go!"
Hand in hoof with Barnaby, Maya stepped through the pyramid's glowing doorway. Inside, rooms shifted and changed—one moment a meadow of stars, the next an ocean made of lemonade. They danced with fireflies who told jokes, played hide-and-seek with clouds, and had a baseball game with the moon.
When Maya returned home, the pyramid was just baseball cards again. But something had changed. Her room felt warmer, her toys seemed friendlier, and her imagination burned brighter than ever.
That night, Maya sketched her adventure in her notebook, drawing Barnaby and their magical day. She realized Barnaby was right—the best adventures don't need to be photographed or posted. They just need to be lived, remembered, and shared.
Maya fell asleep with a smile, knowing her Magic Pyramid of Dreams would always be there, waiting whenever she needed a little magic. All she had to do was stack her cards, take her vitamins, and believe.
