The Magic Portal Pool

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's old house in Egypt. Behind the garden, there was a mysterious swimming pool that shimmered like liquid stars under the moonlight.

One hot afternoon, Lily jumped into the pool. But instead of water, she swirled through rainbow lights and tumbled onto soft sand. Standing before her was a great golden pyramid, glowing with ancient magic.

A stone sphinx sat beside it, but its eyes twinkled merrily.

"Welcome, young friend!" the sphinx spoke in a voice like warm honey. "I've been waiting for someone kind enough to solve my puzzle."

Lily's eyes widened. "A talking sphinx!"

"Indeed!" The sphinx smiled. "Inside the pyramid, my poor friend has been trapped. He's not scary—he's just very lonely. The other children ran away when they saw him."

"What does he look like?" Lily asked bravely.

"Well..." The sphinx looked shy. "He's a zombie. But a nice one! He was once a dancer who loved to make people laugh. Now he shuffles around looking sad because everyone is frightened."

Lily thought carefully. "Is he mean?"

"Oh no! He's the gentlest soul I know. He just wants someone to dance with."

"Then I'll help!" Lily declared.

The sphinx clapped its paws together joyfully. Inside the pyramid, Lily found a friendly zombie with flowers tucked behind his ears. He shuffled forward slowly, holding out a hand.

"Friend?" he whispered hopefully.

"Yes, friend!" Lily took his green-tinged hand and they danced—she twirled and he shuffling-spun in the most wonderful dance the pyramid had ever seen.

The sphinx beamed. "You saw with your heart, not just your eyes. That's the greatest magic of all."

When Lily returned through the pool, she discovered glowing Egyptian hieroglyphs on her arm—a reminder that true friendship looks past appearances to the heart within.

Sometimes, she still visits her magical friend. And every time, they dance together under the pyramid's golden glow, proving that the best adventures come from an open heart.
