The Magic Pool Surprise

Lily had the craziest hair in town. Every morning, her brown curls stuck up like a squirrel's nest! Mom called it her "wild hair, don't care" look.

One hot summer day, Lily sat by the pool, dangling her feet in the cool blue water. She was playing on her iPhone, taking pictures of dragonflies zooming around the garden. Suddenly — SPLASH! — something strange popped up from the water.

It was green and bumpy, with messy seaweed hair all over its head. A zombie!

Lily almost jumped out of her skin. But then the creature smiled. A real, friendly smile!

"Hello!" it said. "I'm Zeb, and I'm not a scary zombie. I'm a POOL zombie! I live in the deep end and make sure all the fish are happy."

Lily blinked. "You're... nice?"

"The nicest!" Zeb did a silly underwater dance, making bubbles float up like tiny crystal balls. "Want to see something magical?"

He pulled out something sparkly from behind his ear — it was a golden dragonfly!

"This dragonfly grants one wish to kind children who love nature," Zeb explained. "And you, my friend, have been taking pictures of dragonflies all morning. That shows you really care about them!"

Lily's heart jumped with joy. She wished for something special. "I wish that whenever someone feels lonely, they'll find a friend who likes them just the way they are — crazy hair and all!"

The dragonfly glowed brighter than the sun, then — POOF! — sprinkled magic dust everywhere. Zeb laughed and did a backflip into the water.

"Best wish EVER!" he called, waving before diving deep into the pool's shimmering blue depths.

That night, Lily looked in the mirror at her wild hair and smiled. Some day, somewhere, another kid with crazy hair would find a friend who thought they were perfect. And that was the best magic of all.
