The Magic Pool Surprise

Lily loved summer. Most of all, she loved the blue pool in her backyard. Every morning, she would peek through the window to see the water sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight.

One hot afternoon, Lily was swimming when she heard splashing and giggling. She popped her head up and saw the most surprising thing – a fluffy golden dog was chasing colorful leaves around the pool edge! His tail wagged so hard that his whole body wiggled.

"Hello there!" Lily called. The dog stopped running and looked at her with big, happy eyes. He barked twice, as if saying hello back.

Lily climbed out of the pool. The dog did something funny – he walked stiffly on his back legs, waving his front paws in the air like he was dancing! His tongue stuck out sideways, and he made silly zombie noises.

"Are you a zombie dog?" Lily giggled. The dog nodded his head up and down!

Suddenly, Lily's neighbor Tommy popped out from behind a bush. "He's not really a zombie! I'm teaching him tricks for the pet show tomorrow. His name is Buster!"

Buster the dog flopped onto his back, wiggling his paws in the air. Lily and Tommy laughed so hard their tummies hurt. The zombie dog wasn't scary at all – he was the silliest, most wonderful dog they had ever seen!

That afternoon, Lily and Tommy took turns running around the pool with Buster following them, pretending to be a zombie too. The cool water felt amazing on such a hot day.

Lily learned something important that day: Sometimes things that seem strange or different can turn out to be the best surprises of all. And the best adventures happen when you share them with new friends – even if one of them is a silly zombie dog named Buster!
