The Magic Pool Surprise
Lily lived in a house at the edge of Whispering Woods, where the trees hummed soft secrets to anyone who listened. But Lily had no one to share the secrets with—until the day she discovered something extraordinary.
Behind a curtain of vines, she found a hidden pool. The water wasn't blue like ordinary swimming pools. It shimmered with stardust, glowing softly like captured moonlight. "A magic pool," she whispered, leaning closer. Her reflection rippled, but the face looking back wasn't hers.
A nose poked through the surface—a wet, black nose followed by brown fur and twinkling eyes. A bear! But this wasn't a scary bear. He was small and round, wearing a leafy hat made of ferns.
"Hello!" the bear said, splashing water like tiny diamonds. "I'm Bramble. This is my wishing pool. What's your wish?"
Lily's eyes widened. "I wish for a friend."
Bramble's fuzzy ears twitched. "Me too!" He scrambled out of the water, his fur drying instantly in the warm sun. "I've waited ninety-nine years for someone to find this pool. Each person must wish with their whole heart."
He showed her how the pool worked—they dropped pretty stones into the water, and each splash made rainbow ripples that carried wishes to the stars. They played for hours, making wishes for silly things: chocolate rain, dancing flowers, and clouds shaped like dinosaurs.
"Will you come back tomorrow?" Bramble asked as the sun began to set.
"Every day!" Lily promised. "For always and always."
And she did. Because the best magic isn't found in wishing pools or glowing water. The best magic is finding a friend who waits ninety-nine years just for you.
