The Magic Pool Secret
Lily loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer day, she would beg her mother to take her to the community pool. The moment she stepped through the gates, the smell of chlorine filled her nose, and she could hear happy splashes and children's laughter echoing off the tiled walls.
One Tuesday evening, Lily arrived at the pool just as the sun was setting. The water turned a deep, mysterious blue, almost like liquid sapphire. Something felt different tonight—magical, somehow.
She climbed onto the starting block and dived into the cool water. As she swam beneath the surface, she noticed something sparkling in the deep end. Curious, she surfaced and grabbed her towel, where she had left her iPhone.
"Maybe I can capture whatever's down there," she thought.
Lily aimed her iPhone camera at the shimmering spot in the deep water. The screen flickered with rainbow colors. Suddenly, she could see something that wasn't visible to her eyes alone—a tiny mermaid with flowing aqua hair and a tail that sparkled like diamonds was waving at her!
The mermaid surfaced gently, revealing herself only to Lily. "Hello, land girl! I've been waiting for someone with a magic window to find me."
"Magic window?" Lily asked, confused.
"Your iPhone! It's made from stardust and moonbeams—only children with pure hearts can truly see its magic. I'm Marina, and I guard the pool's secret wishes."
Marina explained that every time a child laughed while swimming, a bubble of joy was created. These bubbles floated to the bottom, where Marina collected them and turned them into wishes for children who needed hope.
"But lately," Marina whispered, "fewer children have been swimming together. They're always looking at their phones instead of playing. My joy bubbles are disappearing."
Lily felt a pang of guilt. She had been spending more time on her iPhone than playing with friends.
"I'll help!" Lily promised. "Tomorrow, I'll invite all my friends for a swimming party. No phones allowed—just splashing, laughing, and playing together!"
Marina clapped her hands with delight. "Thank you, Lily! Your friendship is the greatest magic of all."
The next day, Lily gathered her friends at the pool. They raced, played tag, and made up silly games. The laughter echoed everywhere, and beneath the surface, Lily could see Marina twirling happily as hundreds of sparkling joy bubbles floated down to her.
That evening, Lily checked her iPhone one last time. A new notification glowed on the screen: a photo she didn't remember taking—her and her friends, arms around each other, smiling their biggest smiles. Marina had sent it as a thank-you gift.
Lily learned that the best magic doesn't happen on screens—it happens when you're truly swimming in moments of joy with the people you love.
