The Magic Pool's Wish

Barnaby was a bear who didn't like water. While other bears splashed and played in the river, Barnaby stayed high in his favorite oak tree, watching sadly.

One hot afternoon, something caught his eye—a bright green **palm** tree swaying near the back of the forest. Palm trees didn't grow here! Curious, Barnaby climbed down and crept closer.

Behind the palm tree shimmered a pool he'd never seen before. Its water sparkled like liquid diamonds, and tiny lights floated above it like captured stars.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" squeaked a tiny voice.

Barnaby jumped! A small brass **bull** no bigger than his paw stood on a rock, polishing his golden horns with a leaf.

"I'm Barnaby," he whispered.

"I'm Bruno!" said the bull proudly. "I'm **running** away from the toy maker's shop. He made me wrong—too small to pull carts, too big to sit on shelves. So I'm finding my own place in the world!"

Barnaby's heart squeezed. "I understand. Everyone says bears should swim, but I'm afraid."

Bruno trotted to the water's edge. "This is the Magic Wish Pool. Legend says it grants one wish to those who are brave enough to step in."

Barnaby's paws trembled. The water looked deep and mysterious. But Bruno's tiny face looked so hopeful.

"If I go in," Barnaby said slowly, "I wish for courage... and for you to find a home, Bruno."

Together, they stepped into the pool. The water was warm and gentle, like a hug. Barnaby didn't sink—he floated! And Bruno grew! Not too big, just big enough to be a perfect friend.

The magic gave Barnaby something better than courage: friendship. With Bruno by his side, Barnaby wasn't afraid anymore. They discovered the pool's real magic wasn't in wishes, but in the courage to try new things together.

And that's how the bear learned to swim, the bull found a home, and both found that the bravest thing you can do is take one small step—with a friend beside you.
